It all started in the Netherlands in the winter of 2016, with an innocent phone call and dinner with the current shareholders. All coming from big consultancy companies, it was our goal to build an awesome team of highly technical individuals and make it all about them. Connecting with our people and doing cool things for customers, that is the core of Dataworkz. Curious about how we got here?
Working in style! We don‘t care where you work. But if we do meet, we meet in style. With many like-minded tech people, we share one of the most classic offices you can imagine. Want to join us at the bar or in the garden soon?
Blipz on the Rader 2023! Bigger and better! New location and more speakers. But with the same tech-orientated approach! Tech conferences should be about tech, not marketing! See you next year!
We try to do an activity at least once a month. We just suck at taking pictures. But that doesn’t mean we’re not enjoying ourselves! No bottles were harmed taking this picture.
And we’re back! This time in Sölden with roughly 50 colleagues. Slopes, sauna or hiking during the day, dinner & drinks and dancing during the evening! Or just enjoy the evening while playing boardgames!
The first version of our very own tech conference! Roughly 150 people joined us during Blipz on the Radar: great tech talks, live coding challenges and an amazing tech pub quiz!
The annual skiing trip with our colleagues from the ecosystem (Dataworkz, Skyworkz, Groundworkz) in the Netherlands. Perfect moments to enjoy the snow, talk tech or just talk nonsense!
With more consultants we start experiencing more of the famous Dataworkz culture in Hamburg with more of a startup flair - complete with coworking spaces and the perfect food for our internal brown-bag-sessions.
With Anzar we hired our first Dataworkz Germany employee. And we were able to find him the project he was hoping for. Welcome Anzar!
Alea iacta est! Dataworkz GmbH is founded, now all we have to do is conquer German bureaucracy to be ready to officially start in June!
Working from home. Keeping a distance, no high-fives. That is pretty hard for us. But we do everything in our power to be together even remotely, like the home wine tasting! And the meetups continue, for example in cooperation with the Human & Tech Institute on bias testing and ethics in AI.
We find that with our spacious office we can easily comply with the distance rules and so the consultancy world is turned upside down. Instead of working at the client’s, clients and their teams come to us - to finally see each other live again.
It’s only February but we’ve already organised 2 Meetups. Jeff and Jurriaan are giving a workshop Timeseries with Facebook Prophet - for the first time in our new office. And together with Dataiku - one of our partners - we present data science on production best practices.
We proudly open the doors to our hip premises in the Werkspoorkathedraal. Equiped with lots of space, lots of light and of course lots of gadgets, such as VR, arcade and a unique grabbing machine for snacks. Big celebration at our opening party.
Traditional ski week in a beautiful hotel right on the piste. At Kaiserwetter with a group of 16 people dancing at Seppies. With a group of beginners who are taking lessons so that they can also go to Seppies.
We start the year and our New Year’s reception with an escape room. A la casa de papel we have to crack a bank vault. I don’t know how they managed it but we are on the all-time scoreboard.
With around 40 guests, we rented an entire floor of the water tower in Utrecht for our annual Christmas dinner. There were many socials this year, such as kite flying, golfing, a day at Walibi or simply going out in Rotterdam, but enjoying a festive and luxurious Christmas dinner is always one of the highlights.
This year, we are visiting the ODSC in London again with the whole club, but of course it was extra special to speak at the Big Data Days in Moscow. Arno and Bogdan presented Data Science as a Service and how image recognition can save parking costs in a smart way. And if you get the chance to speak in Moscow, we can’t let them go alone so we were there with a nice delegation to attend the conference and see Moscow in between.
We are back in the Ardennes with the whole club and all the partners. In a luxurious cottage we enjoy the swimming pool, the warm BBQ weather and the cocktail workshop of our Tjian. During the day being sporty on the mountain bike in the hills or enjoy the underground of the caves of Han. But most of all, we love to chat and have fun with each other.
Working on technology together, undisturbed in the living room. We call this Codecamp and we do it at beautiful locations in holiday homes - this time with our sister company Skyworkz. We learn Golang, build a Kubernetes cluster, do Cloud Analytics in AWS and learn about transfer learning.
Was one of the most successful meetups 2019 with over 90 participants. With a meetup every 2 months and guest speakers, we now count 600 members in the meetup group. We will tell you how to train a neural network with GraphQL, how to get the most out of your data with Reinforcement and Transfer learning and of course how to know in advance when Dutch cows are in heat.
This year, together with our sister companies, we will be skiing up the mountain during the day and aprés skiing in the evening with Tony in the Almhütte.
With Dataworkz we have many events, often with family. For example, to Moviepark or paintballing. The highlight of the year is the Christmas dinner once again.
We are stoked that our Olaf will be presenting at the ODSC how he can predict the bitcoin market with Tweets. Not only because we are very proud of this, but especially because it leads to many inspiring conversations with and without beer - with direct results for our clients (like the deployment of AutoML). And because it’s so much fun, we’ll be speaking at Devoxx Belgium, Hashidays, Teqnation and the JFall.
With 5 meetups now, we are up to speed and together with Hashicorp we explain how to make multicloud platforms secure. It is especially nice to do meetups with customers together, like with the Port of Rotterdam, where we jointly explain how Data Science Serverless works on land, in the sea and in the cloud.
We celebrate the anniversary of Dataworkz with a luxury weekend in the Ardennes. Together with our partners, we enjoy nature and do fun things like kayaking, chocolate workshop, billiards, outdoor bubble baths and of course, we also have a great party evening with DJ Bas.
Inspiring each other and sharing knowledge. How can we achieve this when we often work at customers’ premises? At Dataworkz we therefore regularly have Workzpoor Thursdays, where we work at the office in the Werkspoor Cathedral, helping each other and our customers. Experiences are shared during lunch sessions and evening workshops. We ended with our now traditional thai dinner and of course a small beer.
Fun is very important to us and where can you have more fun than in the snow. The first Dataworkz ski trip was just awesome and is part of the company’s annual agenda. Not obligatory but it’s all about having fun to together.
Time to celebrate the first successes with each other at a festive christmas dinner. Celebration is not something we do alone, but with partners and families as much as possible. At Christmas, a beautiful tradition is born…. a festive Christmas dinner with the partners at a beautiful location.
Our first real company event in which we did some really cool things, from drifting with an old BMW to quad biking through the mud. In the end, an escape room had to bring the decision …. scientists vs engineers. But it started with spareribs.
Sharing knowledge is key. This was also the case at the first meetup, where Arno Broekhof talked about Elastiscsearch war stories for the police. A full house and boxes full of pizzas.
Startup feeling at the birth of Dataworkz at our Kickoff BBQ. By doing a lot together, it quickly feels familiar also for our partners and families and they dare to challenge each other with inspiring professional ideas - or a cool water pistol fight.
